He is an officer belonging to the elite Indian Forest Service. He is responsible for managing the forests, environment and wildlife related issues of a state of India. He is the counterpart of the Principal Secretary of the forests of a state.

Qualifications & Other Criteria

• 1. A first class masters degree in basic sciences or agriculture and allied

sciences or forestry and other related disciplines from a recognised university is an essential qualification but a Doctoral Degree in the same is a desirable one

2. For Assistant conservator of Forests post, the Eligibility Criteria is a Gradustion in any discipline from a recognised university

• Candidates must be of 18-28 years age at the time of recruitment.

• Candidates have to appear for the Written Test conducted by the UnionPublic Service Commission (UPSC). Qualified candidates are selected for a Personal Interview.

1. Rs. 80,000/- a month plus grade pay.

2. A Chief Conservator of Forests is the cadre immediately next to this, who earns Rs. 37,400/-67,000/- a month plus a grade pay of Rs. 10,000/-

3. At entry level, the grade pay of a Conservator of Forests is Rs. 8,700/- a month

4. A Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests earns Rs. 15,600/- to Rs. 39,100/plus grade pay of Rs. 7,600/- a month

 

 5. An Assistant Conservator of Forests earns Rs. 15,600/- to Rs. 39,100/- plus grade pay of Rs. 5,400/- a month
